re:member. re:frame. re:collect.
Re:Collective is an interdisciplinary art and research collective exploring the intersections of memory, culture, and immersive technology. Rooted in the methods and ethics of visual anthropology, we create XR-based experiences that re:collect lived stories, re:frame perception, and re:connect audiences with overlooked cultural narratives.
Our collaborative practice operates like a living lab—merging fieldwork, design, and storytelling to challenge how presence, absence, and remembrance are felt in digital space.
We believe in working collectively, remembering critically, and designing immersively.

Out of Focus. Un/Commoning Curatorial
Practices through Multimodal Engagements
As part of the GASCA-Conference, the Working Group Media (anthropology) curates the exhibition “Out of Focus” in selected intervention spaces in and with the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum in Cologne.

Four Weeks
The VR film explores the fluid boundaries between researcher and researched, forming an assemblage of co-produced memories and affective encounters. It invites viewers to navigate fluid storytelling while challenging traditional hierarchies in ethnographic
storytelling by decentralizing power.
It will be exhibited from September 30 to October 2, 2025, at the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum
Cultures of the World in Cologne, as part of the DGSKA Conference 2025.
